Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often should I have my chimney swept?

This is the question of all questions and the hardest to answer. The reason being is because everyone burns differently, everyone burns different wood, the wood is at different moisture content and everyone does not have the same wood burning appliance. So it depends on the wood you burn, how your wood is stored, how much you burn and when you burn your wood. With that said the National Fire Protection Agency recommends every chimney and fireplace be inspected annually. There is not a single answer for everyone so we recommend yearly or twice a year inspection to ensure the correct level of creosote is in your chimney.

  • My fireplace sent smoke into the room last time I used, do I need to clean it?

When a fireplace smokes 99% of the time it is not due to an excessive amount of creosote blocking the smoke from exiting the chimney. There could be several different possibilities which is causing the fireplace to smoke. The fireplace grate could be to large or to far forward in the fireplace. The heater could be running at the same time you are trying to have a fireplace. Did you recently remodel the room the fireplace is in and go from single pane to double pane windows? Is the fireplace opening to large for the flue it has? Do you have a chimney cap to prevent animals from building a nest in the chimney or to prevent debris from entering the chimney? If your fireplace smokes then you should have an inspection performed rather than a sweep.

  • Why should I have my chimney swept?

It is important to sweep your chimney regularly to prevent creosote from building up inside your chimney. Creosote is basically wood transformed into a different product, which means it is still combustible or it can still ignite. If the creosote in the chimney flue ignites it will cause a chimney fire which can easily spread to other areas of the home and lead to a house fire. If you have never had your chimney swept or inspected it is something to HIGHLY consider.

  • What do you offer that other companies don’t?

We offer the best customer service and experience on the peninsula. We offer a professional inspection report equipped with pictures and a description to help you better understand the foreign chimney language. We also offer a clean experience, ensuring we will leave the home in a cleaner manner than when we arrived. We are also the only company on the peninsula that has certified chimney professionals in the field. This gives you the piece of mind that your chimney and fireplace is being inspected by trained individuals that had to take several tests in order to become certified.

  • What can I expect when you arrive for the appointment?

You can expect us to send you a text message when we are on our way so you have an accurate time of our arrival, there is no waiting around for hours or no shows. Also the person in the image from the text you receive will be the person you will meet at the door. You can expect a clean, hassle free experience from certified professionals.

  • What do I need to do to prepare for my appointment?

We ask that you prepare roughly five feet of space in front of the fireplace and a clear path to the fireplace to allow us enough room for the inspection or sweeping of the fireplace. We provide tarps to cover your floors and to cover the fireplace opening so there is no need to cover furniture with plastic or bed sheets. If you have family heirlooms or other sentimental pieces on or near the fireplace mantel, we ask that you remove those before our arrival.

  • How does pricing work?

Pricing is based on inspection only or sweep and inspection. The pricing may vary depending on single story or two story units or the type of fireplace and chimney that you have. Call today for a free quote over the phone! Unfortunately we have to charge for our time so if we come out there is an inspection fee. Also If an appointment is booked online and is not canceled within 48 hours of the scheduled arrival time, then there is a $99 fee.
